How to get paid with Tap-to-Pay on Jobox?

Jobox has partnered with Stripe to let our users receive digital payment with just their phone - no need for external payment device.

We are thrilled to announce a new, exclusive partnership with Stripe to offer "Tap-to-Pay" on both iPhone and Android for our users. "Tap-to-Pay" will enable pros on Jobox to receive digital payment from customers just with their smartphone.

How does "Tap-to-Pay" work?

"Tap-to-Pay" uses embedded technology on your smartphone to process a digital payment without the need of an external payment device. When you select "Tap-to-Pay" as the payment option in the Jobox app, your customer will be able to tap their debit card or credit card on your phone to process the payment.

"Tap-to-Pay" also works with digital wallets such as Apple Pay or Google Pay. When using a digital wallet, your customer must open the wallet on their phone, and then tap their phone on yours to process the payment. Like a traditional card payment, you'll be notified immediately once the payment has been received.

How do I request a payment with "Tap-to-Pay"?

When you generate an invoice for a job on Jobox, you can choose the method your customer wishes to use to process the payment - credit/debit, cash or check.

When "Tap-to-Pay" becomes available to you, the option will be added to the payment method selection screen. Simply select "Tap-to-Pay" as the payment method and follow the instructions on the screen to process the payment.

When will "Tap-to-Pay" become available to me?

We are rolling out "Tap-to-Pay" throughout November and December, 2022. You'll be notified as soon as you become eligible to process payment with "Tap-to-Pay." If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our customer success team within the app.

Do I need an external device to process payment with "Tap-to-Pay"?

You don't need an external device to process a payment with "Tap-to-Pay." This innovative payment method uses your smartphone's internal technology to process the payment securely.

However, some of your customers may not have payment cards or digital wallets that support "Tap-to-Pay" just yet. Therefore, it is best that you still have a payment swiper with you to process legacy payment methods when "Tap-to-Pay" isn't possible.

Does "Tap-to-Pay" support all digital payment methods?

No. "Tap-to-Pay" is only compatible with digital wallets and payment cards that support "Tap-to-Pay." Payment cards that support "Tap-to-Pay" will include an icon similar to the one below on the front face of the card.

What are the fees to process payments with "Tap-to-Pay"?

Fees to process "Tap-to-Pay" are the same fees as the ones you are charged when processing traditional credit card payments through swipe / dip.

How do I know if my phone is compatible with Tap-to-Pay?

To use Tap-to-Pay, you device must be:

  • an iPhone X or newer running iOS 16.0 or above. We recommend updating to the latest iOS version for the best experience.

  • an Android phone with an NFC antenna and chipset running Android 9 or above. Your Android device also must have Google Mobile Services enabled, a hardware backed key-store, and cannot be unlocked.
