Initial Setup

If you've used our readers in the past, you'll notice that the setup and use are very similar.

  • Charge and Turn on your Reader
Always make sure you head out with a fully charged reader. The lights on the reader will flash when you turn it on.

  • Turn on bluetooth on your phone
Do NOT pair the reader just yet. You will do that next in the Jobox app.

  • Open your Jobox app
In Jobox app, go to Settings > Account Information. Scroll down and tap on Update reader Firmware.

  • Pair your reader for an update
You will now be asked to pair your reader. Tap Pair to start the update process.

  • Update your reader
Follow instructions on the screen to complete the reader update. This might take up to 15 minutes. You should do this BEFORE you are in front of a customer.

Note: Before setting up your card reader, make sure you have the
latest version of the Jobox app and then follow the instructions below
to complete setup for your new reader.

Connect your card reader

After you have completed the steps above, you will be asked to connect your reader. Tap Connect and you’re ready to start processing cards!

Turn the reader on / off

Turn on the reader by pressing and releasing the power button. The status LEDs turn on and the reader beeps twice. The reader waits for a Bluetooth connection for five minutes before turning off.

When the reader connects to a device running the Jobox app, the status LEDs on top of the reader flash four times. After connecting, the first status light begins flashing at five-second intervals. The reader stays connected to your iOS or Android device while in standby mode and automatically exits standby mode when you resume activity.

When connected, the reader automatically turns off after 10 hours of inactivity. You can turn off the reader manually by pressing and holding the power button for four seconds. You don’t need to turn off the reader to conserve power.

With typical usage, you only need to charge the reader fully once per day

Charge the reader

To charge the reader, use the included USB cable. The USB port is only for charging and doesn’t work for connecting the reader to a device.

Check the battery status

When the reader is on, you can press and release the power button once to check the battery level. The LEDs on top of the reader show the current status.
